Work starts on biggest docking station at Waterloo

Work began today on a 124-space 'super' cycle hire docking station close to the main entrance of Waterloo station.

The new station will be the biggest yet for the Mayor's flagship Barclays Cycle Hire scheme, which now has more than 100,000 members.

The docking station will be installed next to the existing cycle parking facilities on Station Approach between the Victory Arch and central concourse entrances.

It should be operational by mid-December.

A very positive development i am sure for all those frustrtated BB users wo can't find a aspace for their BB in the evenings/a spare BB after 8:30 am.

For those of use who use our own machines, what is happening to the cycle track that runs alongside Mepham St down to the pelican croissing at York Rd? I notied this morning that the contractors are digging up the kerb stones which separate it from the road, and digging a hole slap in the middle of the track near its lower end.

At the moment I have to ride down the road, and jostle with the buses, and I can't (legally) ride up as it is one way. Is this going to be permanent?
